Punjab batter Abhishek Sharma scores the fastest hundred by an Indian after scoring a blasting 28-ball hundred in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Meghalaya.
It was Abhishek Sharma’s four-ton in the tournament overall which came off 28 balls turned out to be a record-breaking century as he equaled the fastest century by an Indian batter in the T20 format equalling Gujarat’s Urvil Patel who scored a 28-ball hundred against Tripura last week. The ongoing tournament has seen record-breaking numbers with batters demonstrating their fearless approach & power-hitting ability.

1) Abhishek Sharma: 100 (28) vs Meghalaya
Abhishek Sharma has enjoyed an incredible 2024 year in the IPL who later on made his international & now is carrying his form in the domestic circuit. The left-handed batter holds the record joint-most fastest hundred by an Indian batter in the T20 Format after striking 100 off 28 balls against Meghalaya. 2) Urvish Patel: 100 (28) vs Tripura
Alongside Abhishek Sharma is Gujarat’s wicket-keeper batter Urvish Patel who registered a ton in the ongoing edition of SMAT against Tripura. After being put into bat, Tripura posted a total of 155 against Gujarat. Opening the innings Urvil Patel was involved in a 150-run stand for the opening wicket with Aarya Desai. Urvil brought up his fifty off 15 balls & later powerhousing his ton off 28 balls. The right-handed batter scored unbeaten 113 off 35 balls which included seven boundaries & 12 sixes with Gujarat chasing the total with 58 balls to spare. Urvish received player of the match for his stunning innings.
3) Rishabh Pant: 100 (32) vs Himachal Pradesh
Rishabh Pant’s 100 off 32 balls against Himachal Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2017/18 held the record for the fastest century by an Indian batter before being surpassed by Urvish Patel. After electing to field first Delhi restricted Himachal Pradesh to a score of 144. A young Rishabh was opening the batting alongside Gautam Gambhir but it was Rishabh Pant who stole the spotlight. Rishabh Pant brought his 50 off 18 balls before bringing his century off 32 balls. The left-handed batter went on to score an unbeaten 116 off 38 balls which included eight boundaries & 12 sixes at a staggering strike rate of 305. Delhi chased down the total without losing a wicket in the following match.
4) Rohit Sharma: 100 (35) vs Sri Lanka
Rohit Sharma’s 35-ball century against Sri Lanka in December 2017 stands as one of the most breathtaking displays of batting in T20 Cricket. His innings came during the second T20I against Sri Lanka in December 2017. After being put into bat first, Rohit Sharma took the Sri Lankan bowlers to the cleaners, effortlessly displaying the ball to all parts of the ground. Rohit was involved in a 165-run stand for the opening wicket alongside KL Rahul. Rohit’s innings included 12 boundaries & 10 sixes who were eventually dismissed for 118. His innings powerhouse India to a total of 260 with India winning the match by 88 runs. Rohit Sharma was rewarded with the player of the match for his destructive innings.
5) Urvil Patel: 100 (36) vs Uttarakhand
In the ongoing edition of the SMAT, Gujarat’s Urvil Patel continued his dream form after smashing yet another ton. Batting first, Uttarakhand posted a total of 182. Gujarat who were chasing a total of 183 witnessed yet another batting masterclass from Urvil Patel with his aggregating innings. The wicket-keeper batter smashed unbeaten 115 off 41 deliveries which brought up his century off 36 balls. His innings included eight boundaries & 11 sixes as Gujarat registered an 8-wicket victory with 41 balls to spare. Urvil Patel claimed the player of the match following his blistering knock.
