The Eighteenth edition of the Indian Premier League is set to begin on March 14 & will conclude on 25 May. Further BCCI also confirmed the schedule for the 2026 & 2027 seasons, the IPL 2026 will be played from March 15 to May 31 whereas the IPL 2027 will be played from March 14 to May 30.
The announcement of the dates for the next three seasons displays the establishment of the IPL which has locked in the International Calendars which also helps the franchises as well as players to plan accordingly. The upcoming IPL season will see a total of 74 matches played across the tournament which is the same number as compared to the last three IPL seasons. However, as per the tender document the media rights were sold for the 2023-2027 Cycle, it was mentioned the 2023 & 2024 IPL will feature 74 matches while there will be 10 additional matches in the 2025 & 2026 seasons which makes it 84 while the 2027 IPL season will see a total of 94 matches but the upcoming IPL would comprise of only 74 matches.
In a significant development, Most of the boards from the overseas players from Full Member nations have approved to participate for the next three seasons.
The two-day auction will take place on November 24 & 25 ahead of the IPL 2025. In another major development, BCCI confirmed the availability of the English Pacer Jofra Archer for the base price of (INR 2 CR) which has been listed as the N0. 575 as part of the accelerated round. Earlier, The English pacer had withdrawn his name following the shortlisted of the players which also includes USA’s Saurabh Netravalkar & Mumbai’s Hardik Tamore as No. 577.
