The addition of KL Rahul & Mitchell Starc was the steal deal for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025 Mega auction.
The Delhi capitals had retained Axar Patel for INR 16.50 CR, Kuldeep Yadav for 13.25 CR, Tristan Stubbs for 10 CR & Abhishek Porel for 4 CR.
India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul and ace Australian pacer Mitchell Starc headlined the buys for Delhi Capitals on Day 1 of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. KL Rahul and Starc were acquired for ₹14 crore and ₹11.75 crore respectively.
Delhi Capitals opened its account on Day 2 of the IPL 2025 auction by logging in former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis for ₹2 crore. Mukesh Kumar was the second player to be acquired for ₹8 crore. Delhi Capitals used their Right To Match (RTM) option to snap up pacer Mukesh Kumar after Punjab Kings raised the final bid from ₹6.50 crore.
The Delhi Capitals acquired the services of Indian lower-middle-order batter Sameer Rizvi for ₹95 lakh, and Ashutosh Sharma for ₹3.80 crore. They also added the experienced Pacer Mohit Sharma who had enjoyed the last couple of seasons with the Gujarat Titans.
Delhi Capitals also showed plenty of interest when the bid for Suryavanshi started at his base price of $35,500 before Rajasthan eventually bought him.
The batting all-rounder, Manvanth Kumar L was picked for INR 30 lakhs. The South African wicket-keeper batter Donovan Ferreira was picked at a base price of INR 75 lakh. Englishman Harry Brook was snapped up for ₹6.25 crore, while Indian players T Natarajan and Karun Nair were acquired for ₹10.75 crore and ₹50 lakh, respectively, in the second half of the day two auction.
The Delhi Capitals have curated a well-rounded squad that balances explosive batting, effective all-rounders, and a potent bowling lineup. The presence of experienced campaigners like KL Rahul, Mitchell Starc, and Axar Patel ensures leadership and reliability, while young talents like Sameer Rizvi and Jake Fraser-McGurk add batting power to the squad.
