The highly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is gaining momentum as the team unveiled their retained and released player lists on 31st October, followed by the BCCI finalizing the auction pool from an initial list of 1,574 players. The mega auction, set to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will feature 574 players. With ten franchises vying to strengthen their squads for the upcoming season, the auction promises to deliver exciting bidding battles, scroll further to learn about the current squad dynamics of the teams and purse available.
Out of the 574 players, 366 are Indian and 208 are overseas, including three from associate nations. Among them, 330 are uncapped, with 318 Indians and 12 overseas players. A total of 204 slots are available, 70 reserved for overseas players. For the first time since 2018, the marquee list is split into two categories.
Apart from picking the players through bidding franchises can also use the Right to Match (RTM) cards during the auction. The RTM rule for 2025 introduces a twist: after an RTM is exercised, the bidding team may raise their offer. If the original team matches this increased bid, they can reclaim the player. This revision adds an extra layer of strategy to the auction.
