“I am deeply honored to take on the role of ICC Chair and immensely grateful for the trust and support of the ICC Directors and Member Boards,” Shah stated.

“This is an exciting era for cricket as we gear up for the LA28 Olympics and work towards making the sport more inclusive and engaging for fans worldwide.

“We are at a crucial crossroads with the coexistence of various formats and the pressing need to expand the women’s game. Cricket has enormous global potential, and I look forward to collaborating closely with the ICC team and Member nations to capitalize on these opportunities and propel the sport to unprecedented heights.”

Shah’s extensive experience in cricket administration spans over a decade. He began his journey in 2009 with the Gujarat Cricket Association, where he spearheaded the development of the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad.

In 2019, he joined the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as its youngest-ever Honorary Secretary. Additionally, Shah has held prominent roles as President of the Asian Cricket Council and Chair of the ICC’s Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee.

Jay Shah succeeds Greg Barclay, who served as ICC Chair from November 2020. Shah expressed his gratitude for Barclay’s leadership, acknowledging the significant progress made during his tenure.

“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Greg Barclay for his exemplary leadership over the last four years and the milestones achieved under his stewardship,” Shah added.

As ICC Chair, Shah is poised to lead cricket into a new era, aiming to expand its global reach, foster inclusivity, and ensure its evolution across formats and demographics.
