Indian batter Tilak Verma continues his dream batting form as he smashes his third consecutive T20 century.
Leading Hyderabad in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Tila Verma scored his third consecutive ton in the shorter format of the game after scoring 151 against Meghalaya. The left-handed batter scored 151 off 67 balls against Meghalaya.
After scoring 151 against Meghalaya, Tilak Verma etched his name in the history books after he became the first cricketer- male or female to score three consecutive centuries and also became the first Indian male cricketer to have a 150+ score in the T20 format.
In the Clash against Hyderabad, Meghalaya opted to field first and had a perfect start after claiming a wicket in the first over of the innings but then came the Hyderabad skipper to bat in at number three. Tilak Verma alongside Tanmay Agarwal was involved in a 122-run stand for the second wicket.
The Hyderabad skipper was involved in an 84-run stand for the third wicket alongside Rahul Buddhi. But it was Tilak Verma’s innings who scored 151 off 67 deliveries which included 14 boundaries & 10 ramping sixes striking at 225. The left-handed batter was dismissed on the last ball of the innings after Dipu Sharma scalped his wicket Hyderabad already had a monumental 248 runs on the board with the damage already being done with explosive batting. Later on, Meghalaya was folded for a score of 69 with Hyderabad winning the match by 179 runs in their opening game of the tournament.
Tilak Verma came into the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy after scoring two consecutive centuries representing the Indian side in the T20I series against South Africa. Batting at three Tilak had scored unbeaten 107 & 120 in the third & fourth T20I being the player of the match in both the matches for the Indian side also being the player of the series in the following series with an aggregate of 280 runs throughout the series.
Tilak Verma, 22, was recently retained by the Mumbai Indians as their fifth retention; they also enjoyed a Prolific performance in the IPL 2024 with 416 runs in 13 matches averaging 41.
