The ODI series was historic for Pakistan as they clinched the series after being one down in the first ODI. With back-to-back wins, they won the bilateral ODI series after 22 years in Australia. Mohammad Rizwan also became the first Pakistan captain since Waqar Younis, who led Pakistan to victory in 2002 against Australia in the away series.

In the first ODI at Melbourne, Australia, chasing 203, secured the first win by 2 wickets with 99 balls to spare, with Mitchell Starc earning Player of the Match for his 3/33 spell. In the next game in Adelaide, Pakistan restricted Australia to just 163 runs, bowling them out in 35 overs, courtesy to Haris Rauf, who took 5 wickets against 29 runs. This made for an easy victory for Pakistan, who lost just one wicket and reached the target in 26.5 overs. Haris Rauf for his five wicket Haul against Australia earned him the Player of the match accolade. The third game at Perth served as the decider, with both teams looking to seal the ODI series. Pakistani bowlers again impressed, restricting Australia to just 140 runs in 31.5 overs, with Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah both claiming 3 wickets. Haris Rauf was again the most effective bowler with a 2/24 spell. Pakistan chased the target with ease by 8 wickets and 139 balls to spare. Rauf, for his effective spell, won both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards, claiming a total 10 wickets for his side.

With the T20Is starting from 14th, the first game of the 3-match T20I series will take place at the iconic Gabba stadium in Brisbane, starting at 1:30 PM IST and 6 PM Australian time.

T20I head-to-head record

The visitors, Pakistan, seem to be on the better side with their 25 encounters with Australia as they won 13 matches that have been played, including a one-over eliminator back in 2012. However, Australia has had the upper hand in recent clashes, winning four out of the last five matchups, which includes their victory in the 2021 T20 World Cup semifinal in Dubai, which automatically paved the way for Australia to capture the trophy.
