The eagerly awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, one of the greatest rivalries in world cricket, is set to begin as India and Australia face off in a five-Test series across six weeks in five iconic Australian cities. The series kicks off on November 22 at Optus Stadium in Perth. Scroll down for live streaming and broadcast details.

This series marks five Test matches to be played since the 1991-92 season and features a notable change, with Cricket Australia opting to replace the traditional Gabba opener with Perth. Optus Stadium, a relatively new Test venue, last hosted India during the 2018-19 tour, where despite Virat Kohli’s century on a challenging pitch, Australia claimed a 146-run victory. Following the Perth Test, the series will move to Adelaide for a day-night Test, a format in which Australia has excelled, with their only pink-ball loss coming against the West Indies in Brisbane. The tour will then shift to the iconic Gabba stadium in Brisbane, followed by the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), and conclude at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the venue for the final match of the five-Test series.
For Australia, the series offers an opportunity to reclaim the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which they last won in 2014-15. India, on the other hand, will be chasing a historic third consecutive Test series victory on Australian soil, building on their landmark triumphs in 2018-19.
Beyond the traditional rivalry, the series carries immense stakes in the World Test Championship (WTC), with both teams occupying the top two spots on the table. The winner will likely secure a spot in the WTC final, while the loser faces an uphill battle to qualify.
In Rohit Sharma’s absence for the first Test, Jasprit Bumrah will take charge as captain. The 1st Test is scheduled to be held in Perth on Friday, 22nd November 2024, at 7:50 AM IST and 10:20 AM local time.
