Australia is hosting Pakistan for a white-ball series from November 4 to 18, beginning with three ODIs that went in Pakistan’s favor, making history by winning an ODI series in Australia for the first time since 2002. Pakistan sealed the series 2-1. However, Australia bounced back with a 29-run victory in the first of three scheduled T20Is. They will aim to secure the T20I series in the upcoming games, while Pakistan will look to level the series and stage a comeback. With the second T20I scheduled for November 16, scroll down for live streaming and broadcast details.
Pakistan made their mark on the tour by clinching the ODI series, coming back strongly after losing the first match. With back-to-back victories, Pakistan won a bilateral ODI series in Australia after 22 years. Mohammad Rizwan, captaining Pakistan full-time for the first time, etched his name in history by becoming the first Pakistani captain since Waqar Younis in 2002 to lead the team to an away-series victory against Australia.
In the first ODI in Melbourne, Australia chased down a target of 203 with ease, winning by two wickets and 99 balls to spare. Mitchell Starc was named Player of the Match for his 3/33 spell. In the second game in Adelaide, Pakistan bowled Australia out for 163 in just 35 overs, thanks to Haris Rauf’s outstanding 5/29. Pakistan lost only one wicket as they reached the target in 26.5 overs, with Rauf earning the Player of the Match award. The decider in Perth saw another stellar performance by Pakistan’s bowlers, restricting Australia to 140 in 31.5 overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah took three wickets each, while Haris Rauf delivered a solid 2/24. Pakistan comfortably chased the target, winning by eight wickets with 139 balls to spare. Rauf’s consistent performances earned him both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards, finishing with 10 wickets in the series.
In the first T20I, a rain-curtailed match reduced to seven overs per side, Australia inserted to batting first and posted an imposing 93/4, courtesy of a blistering 43 off 19 balls by Glenn Maxwell, who smashed 5 boundaries and 3 maximums at a stunning strike rate of 226.31. Marcus Stoinis provided a late flourish, scoring an unbeaten 21 off just 7 balls. Among Pakistan’s bowlers, Abbas Afridi was the standout, claiming 2 wickets for 9 runs in his solitary over. Chasing 94, Pakistan faced difficulty under the pressure of the target, collapsing to 64/9. The batting lineup struggled to build partnerships, with Abbas Afridi’s 20* off 10 balls being the only notable contribution. Nathan Ellis (3/9) and Xavier Bartlett (3/13) led Australia’s bowling charge, dismantling Pakistan’s top and middle order. Adam Zampa chipped in with two crucial wickets, including the dismissal of Shaheen Afridi. Despite a late effort, Pakistan’s innings never gathered momentum, handing Australia a comfortable win by 29 runs. Glenn Maxwell’s explosive knock earned him the Player of the Match award.
The second T20I is scheduled for November 16 at the Sydney Cricket Ground, starting at 1:30 PM IST and 6:00 PM Australian time.
